Couldn’t even take pics of all the fish All I can say is” Epic” Crystal clear water and big schools of reds cruising the flats, I truly can’t describe what we were dealing with, but it was all good! Paul Rankin having some fun. Sorry I put 2 shots of same fish in. And as always make when hiring your guide for flats fishing he at least has a flats boat.

Well after 7 days of great fishing and perfect weather all good things must end, now it’s raining and blowing. This winter has been so nice in comparison to last winter freezing temps and howling north west winds, maybe there is global warming and if so I welcome it for now. Outlook for the remainder of the winter looks mild so hopefully we’ll have more good days ahead. Bob Vought and I headed out on monday and found some fish but with clouds and tough wind it made things a bit difficult but not impossible. Sometime as a guide ya get a bit jammed up at s spot not wanting to leave, then ya do and still get the wrong results. Than you go for a bit of a ride and sometimes find what ya want. Happy Fish!

Good Gosh!! The past couple of days have had great action!! Yesterday Mr Rawlings and I pulled up to a school of 150 fish tailing and popping baits along a lee ward bank. The sick part was the starting temp was 24 degrees. Can’t say over the past 20 years I’ve seen that happen too often. These fish were having some fun and didn’t seem to mind we were there catching them. 14 fish later what a day. Today was a bit different, with winds around 20 we had our work cut out for us. Hank Goodwin and myself found our first flat blown out, second flat blown, third flat blown out, Shit!! Well I had found a few fish on a section of flat about a month ago so the run was on. We pulled up and what I thought was a few fish turned out to be about 100. The fish were tailing and creeping with backs out as well. With the winds blow’n hard and the water a bit muddy, things were tough. Still managed 6 nice fish w/ 2 of them pushing 10lbs!

Wow what weather we have been having! With temps in the upper 70′s and light winds the reds have been pretty darn happy. CAne Patch has been good lately with some nice schools milling around and popping baits. Brandon and his son Austin headed out with me the other day and what was a perfect day started a bit slow so we bounced around a bit and found a great school of fish tailing at the low tide and chasing lil shrimps up and down the flat. I have only gone striper fishing one day and it was not what I expected, Blanked. Some friends of mine went the day before and crushed them. Should have been there yesterday. On another note Remember CCA Georgia is on the wrong page when it come to conservation, the last episode that happened with the CCA President killing way to many fish was the last straw! Not to say CCA has not done good things in other states, but in Georgia they have sucked for the last 20 years I have been here, and continue to suck when it comes to conservation minded issues.

Found the mother load yesterday. I don’t think the fish had been fished to hard, do to their desire to smack everything we tossed at them. The best was watching them hit the top dog lures on spinning gear. After catching a few we began working the lure super fast, watching these reds smack the lure all over the place. This was more fun than catching them. Spin or fly they were eating!!

Long time customer Felton Jenkins and myself headed out with perfect conditions and happy fish yesterday. After hitting a few schools and catching a few we decide to head out and find something new, and that we did. We found about a mile long bank of reds willing to play the game. 8 fish later we decided to head it in. Can’t wait to get back out there and harass a few more. Be careful in hiring guides in the area, plenty claim they can take you fly fishing in their big bay boats. If you would like to sight cast reds make sure your with a guide that can get ya there. Most guides in the big boats are fishing the most beat up fish in the area. All day yesterday we saw one boat fishing, and he wasn’t even flats fishing this makes for very happy reds on the flats., This not Shelter Cove fishing with 7 boats around you.

Things a have been going well on the water as of late, went out on a solo mission and put about a 70lbs tarpon in the air on fly! I seem to having a tough time keeping them buttoned up. Oh well, fun enough just getting plenty of jumps. The reds are really getting a belly full on low and high water. The trout bite has continued to show more signs of life as well. Looks like the ocean is going to blow up satrting wed. with 30mph N.E. winds. Major bummer!!

Major bummer on the weather! We had a nice run of jacks early in the year and then gone. Now they are showing themselves again and the wind goes 20 NE. Oh well back to old reliable. The reds are really getting after some shrimp on the mud flats making for some fun top water bites on poppers. After this blow I think we may have a late season run on tarpon. Reports are there are still plenty of fish in the Charleston area, as the water temps cool they will move back thru. Trout bite is coming around, and hopefully will continue thru the winter.

"Salt Life"

To Say the least we have been wearing some Jaws out the past week. Andy Bowen and Will Abbott had a good time busting fish on every flat we poled. That Will is one funny F@#ker. I have more pics to come, time to go fishing!! Has CCA Georgia done anything to ensure a great fishery along the coast, The answer is no. Oh,I forgot the failed one time stocking program.

Damn fish were all over us, here are 2 of the 5 fish we nailed in the grass Yesterday. Sometimes you have to much of a good thing, fish keep popping up all around. Believe it or not it makes it more difficult when ya have to many targets. Been finding some nice tarpon in some cool places the past 2 days, no eats yet maybe tomorrow.
