The past week or 2 the reds at low water and high have been going nuts. Low water the fish are charging the shrimp hard, in groups of 3-5 fish flying down the flats with birds working over them. On the tailing tides we have been seeing a good number of reds tailing, with great succcess rate to boot. Last sunday John Kennedy and his buddy nailed 5 fish That’s great in the grass, the same night I talked to Jim Mercer and he had informed me they nailed 9 reds in the grass!! The past few hurricanes passing by stirred the water enough to cool it a bit and the fish have taken advantage of this. Speaking of hurricanes Jim Cantore of the Weather channel really chafs my *#@ What a spank ! I think the guy finds any puddle with some wind and rain and blows it up in dramatic fasion.

Steve L and I started off with clods and light winds and some nice shots at triple tail, had one hooked up on fly and he came unbuttoned. Same thing with a nice red, Checked the hook, looked good. Just bad luck I suppose. After the wind picked up we began to struggle a bit. Having a few shots but not hooking up we decided to head to a top secret location. Holly!@#$ the fish were running up and down the bank busting baits!! We managed 5 fish out of the flat and had a blast watching. At one point we had groups of 5 to 10 fish all the way down the flat with their backs out of the water. Skinny water fishing at it’s finest

Yesterday headed out for some poon action, and what looked to be a tough day tunred out o k. Did a bit mor looking but when we found them I would say we found a shit can of them. At one point it was like being in the middle of 100lbs spanish mackeral, fish were flying everywhere. My guy jumped one fish around 100lbs. The fish ran right at the boat and under than back out and jumped 10ft off the bow. We had a second fish eat, but he ran right at the boat again and we couldn’t stay tight. Yesterday made for 11 tarpon jumped all on fly for the month of August.

Sight Casting Tarpon on the Georgia coast is in full swing!! Terry Gibson and myself show up in a n area that has had a good number of fish busting baits and rolling.Guess what happen ? No bait and we were not seeing any signs of tarpon. I tell Terry we should hang and wait, since there has been plenty fish in the area the past few days and they may show. An hour later we see the first fish roll, then another just floating 30′ away with his tail out!! We make a cast a the tailing tarpon, the fish swings on the fly and misses. Dag nabbit! But wait, he pops back up and is tailing again. About that time here come 2 more fish cruising cutting huge wakes. I tell Terry 2 wakes at 12 o’clock. Terry places the fly in the perfect spot, as soon as the fly hits the water one of th fish eats. Terry comes tight and all hell breaks loose. Terry’s fish is about 80-100lbs and going nuts!! 45 minutes later we leader the fish and in doing so break his 12 wt. Terry and myself have also had some epic red fishing on top water. Using poppers yesterday we caught 7 or 8 reds, and had a blast watching them blast the top.

Money isn’t easy to come by these days. If I’m booked please contact me a nd I will get you hooked up with a quality guide That knows the deal. Big sea pro boats are not the craft of choice for any fly fishing guide or fly angler. Reds are getting tougher to catch and having the propper boat will only enhance your your success.
