I have been slack lately not posting to many pics, but the reds have been going nuts around Cane Patch as well as other areas. There have also been some stripers busting up some baits on top making for some cool action.

F$#^ers. Off to some reds. The wind clouds and rain were making the low tide a bit tough but we did manage a red and a trout that was in 8″ of water. We decided to get out of the rain and get some lunch than bust’m up in the grass. Bust’m up we did, there were armies of reds marching in with the tide. The Teeing off began. Branden and his son Austin started to get into some fun!!

By the the time I spun around the fish had worked his way further down the creek and then was gone. We didn’t hook up, but things were exciting for a while. Seems as though a bunch of fish have slid in shore to feed hard on mullet getting ready for the big move south. I was looking at the advertised guides on google the other day and not one of them are set up for fly fishing very well, big bay boats are not going to cut it on spooky shallow water reds. As a customer you need to find out what kind of boat the guide is using and how many fly fishing trips they run. Don’t get fooled by a bait fishing guide that is trying to make some money taking people fly fishing. You will fly fish for a few minutes and then be told the tides are not right and end up bait fishing.

Things are going well on the water, reds on the low and high water are feeding well. Been heading south to some old fishing grounds,( Cane Patch) We have been seeing more triple tail filling in along the beach fronts as well as some nice size Spanish mackerel. Spanish can make for a fun day on fly during the heat of the summer days. There are more tarpon reports and we have had some big jacks moving in. Tried for the jacks yesterday but by the time the tide slowed the wind had gone ballistic and we decided to go back to mr. reliable. (redfish) I had to pull into bass pro shops the other day and to my shock they now have salt life fishing shirts and the very next day I saw a truck with 2 salt life stickers and the driver got out with a salt life shirt. Dear Lord!

This month must go down as one of the best months ever for tailing reds. The winds have kept water on the coast and the lunar side has been doing it’s part. Being said, we have been in the grass on a daily basis. One would think the reds would get tired of eating crabs, but just like me at a all you can eat crab legs buffet I can’t stop. Nor can the reds. Here are a few more pics of the latest excercising of the critters. As soon as the tides start getting a bit smaller I will be looking for some stripers, keep your fingers crossed. Tybee Island Fly Fishing
